The best cream cheese frosting: thick, hard and easy to carry, and not too sweet!
OK now! I’m serious when I say this is the best cream cheese frosting recipe! I have tried many types and they work well, but have always had issues with a soft, stringy frosting. This cream cheese frosting is stiff, solid, pipe, spreadable, whatever! It’s also not too sweet like the other recipes.
See the ripples in this icing? Yes, that’s proof that it’s stiff enough to decorate. The big difference between this recipe and all the others floating around the web is that this recipe uses more butter and less powdered sugar.
This variation of more butter and less powdered sugar gives cream cheese a creamy, buttery texture, but still has that spicy cream cheese flavor. Less powdered sugar helps keep it stringy, and the butter helps lighten and fluff the frosting.

Here is my cream cheese frosting recipe now. I will not be using any other cream cheese frosting recipes in the future, so I am sharing this recipe, separately, in their own article, so you can check this article as often as I make this frosting in my culinary creations. ! Have you ever tried it this way? Do this ASAP!
The Best Cream Cheese Frosting
The best cream cheese frosting: thick, hard and easy to carry, and not too sweet!Ingrédients
- 8 ounces of cold cream cheese softened
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature softened
- 1 cup of powdered sugar plus more as needed
- 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
- pinch Stevia leaf extract powder optional
Instructions
Place cream cheese in a mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer, beat until smooth. Gradually add the butter 2 tablespoons at a time and continue beating until smooth and well combined. Add the powdered sugar, pinch Stevia leaf extract powder and the vanilla all at once. Blend until smooth and combined. (Do not beat too long or the frosting will be too smooth for the tubing. If this happens, place the frosting in the refrigerator or freezer until firm.) Use for any recipe that calls for cream cheese frosting. Refrigerate until ready to use.Notes
- You can store this frosting at room temperature (which is 70 degrees Fahrenheit) or in the refrigerator. Do not switch from one side to the other, storing from one to the other, for food safety reasons. Use your own judgment.
