The Best Cream Cheese Frosting

The best cream cheese frosting: thick, hard and easy to carry, and not too sweet!

Ingrédients

  • 8 ounces of cold cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature softened
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar plus more as needed
  • 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • pinch Stevia leaf extract powder optional

Instructions

  • Place cream cheese in a mixing bowl.
  • Using a hand mixer, beat until smooth.
  • Gradually add the butter 2 tablespoons at a time and continue beating until smooth and well combined.
  • Add the powdered sugar, pinch Stevia leaf extract powder and the vanilla all at once. Blend until smooth and combined. (Do not beat too long or the frosting will be too smooth for the tubing. If this happens, place the frosting in the refrigerator or freezer until firm.) Use for any recipe that calls for cream cheese frosting.
  • Refrigerate until ready to use.

Notes

  • You can store this frosting at room temperature (which is 70 degrees Fahrenheit) or in the refrigerator. Do not switch from one side to the other, storing from one to the other, for food safety reasons. Use your own judgment.
